Teeny Time

Dress: Target (online),  Shoes: Go Jane,  Belt: thrifted

Yep.  The green dress lives on.

I dressed my first mannequin at Teeny Bee today and blogged about it here.  I would totally wear that outfit.  Only it would be a regular t-shirt instead of a onesie - bodysuits were never my thing.  Also, it would have a Toyota Yaris on it instead of a wagon - cause that's my ride.  And for the sake of proportion, the skirt would be an A-line or pencil style - same print and still reversible.

For now, I'll just admire the teeny version in the window.

Non-Polo-Wearing Days

I haven't actually ordered anything from Sole Society yet.  What I have done is browse the site obsessively over the last several weeks.  Love it for moderately priced accessories n' all, but then they go one step further by presenting them in complete outfits.  So flippin' smart.

I've fallen in love with many-a-pair of shoes, only to pass when I can't think of what to wear with them.  Next time a leopard-print bootie has me stumped,  I'll know exactly what to do.  And now that my non-polo-wearing days have increased to 4/week (woot woot),  I'll have a lookbook to reference when I somehow have "nothing to wear".

You're probably thinking, "OMG.  Has this girl been living under a rock for the past year?  She's just now blogging about Sole Society!?"  The answer is YES - and it's been more like 20 months.  Give me a sec to catch up, mkay?  And feel free to let me know about any other outfitting resources I've been missing out on.  Thanks.

Sweater: Old Navy,  Dress: Karma,  Belt: Hot Mama
Earrings (similar): Target,  Purse & Boots (similar): DSW

Readers.  Dear, sweet readers.  I love you.  We should really spend more time together.

I start a fun, new job on MONDAY!  I'll be helping my friend Kristie with her new store in St. Paul - Teeny Bee Boutique.  The space is so sweet and homey - full of happy, little, baby things.  I'm excited to connect with one of the loveliest communities in the Twin Cities.  Kristie has been an inspiration to me from the day I met her, and I hope to share her story with you very soon.

As an additional perk, there is no dress code.  And there are several great vintage/thrift stores in the vicinity, so this could be dangerous.  I'll take my chances.

Comfortable Little Space

Sorry I abandoned you for longer than intended.  My life is in an interesting state of limbo again and I've been doing a lot of reflecting and planning - all good stuff.  I wrote this post over a week ago and didn't like it enough to publish, but was too attached to delete it (hate it when that happens).  So here it goes:

I've been in denial about my fears for a long time.  I never thought of myself as a fearful person. Turns out, I am paralyzed by fear.  I don't take risks.  I don't move forward.  I only shuffle around in my comfortable little space.  Welcome to my revelation.

I'm afraid of not having enough money.  I don't have experience to justify this fear.  I've never truly lacked anything, ever.  My needs have always been met, and most of my wants too.  I've concluded that this fear is absurd and I'm going to get over it - the sooner the better.

What I'm even more afraid of is wasting precious time in my meager attempts at making money.  This is where the shuffling comes in.  If I'm not entirely satisfied with what I'm doing, I shift to something equally familiar, stable, and safe.  Too damn safe.  Grrr.

I'm afraid of failure.  Or maybe it's success that I'm afraid of.  Is there a difference?

I'm afraid of trying.  Like, really, actually trying.

I'm afraid of needing help.

I'm afraid of being judged.

I'm afraid of disappointment.

And this is just my professional life.  Ha.

I'm better than this.  If not, God certainly is.  So, this is the start of something.  I'm making gradual changes to how I think, work, and live.  I'm excited to tell you about it over the next few weeks and months.

Thanks for letting me say that.  It actually wasn't as painful as I thought.
